Theme: "Lent: The Spirituality of the Season."  The very word "Lent" comes from the Anglo-Saxon lencthen, originally referring to the lengthening of the light, confirmed in the movement from winter's darkness to spring's increasing vitality, from ashes to the paschal feast of Easter.  Lent, in short, is about coming to life in new ways.  It's about growth.  If you were to take that approach to Lent this year, you might ask, "What would bring me more alive?"  The physical and spiritual practices you choose would be in light of Jesus' words, "I came that you might have life and have it to the full!"  (John 10:10)  This retreat will prime you for the season with a new, energizing vision of its spirituality.

Leader: Thomas Ryan, CSP, is a member of the Paulist Fathers and directs their North American Office for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations in Washington, DC.  Spirituality is an abiding passion for him, as reflected in his 15 books relating to various aspects of the spiritual life.  He leads ecumenical retreats throughout the U.S. and Canada.
